I have been dabbling in drawing and painting for a couple of years now and feel I want to step it up. The Foundation Drawing course is a kind of test to see how I cope with art studies.
I am partial to ink and other fluid mediums, particularly their unpredictability. Rather than realistic depicting I like to simplify to try and peel out the essence of something. However, I feel that being able to represent something realistically is a prerequisite to abstraction – in order to know what to keep and to make sure that what I do keep is correct.
From spring to autumn I am a gardener – winters I try to spend in my art room.
